Snowshill sits above Broadway on a hill, which shapes the visit in two ways: the views are good, and getting there without a car takes planning. The nearest bus stop is Broadway, 2.5 miles away.
The village itself is small. Snowshill Arms is the only pub, the Manor cafe is for National Trust visitors, and the Cotswold Lavender cabin is seasonal. What the village offers instead is genuine quiet, a good walking route and proximity to one of the more unusual National Trust properties in the Cotswolds.
Snowshill Manor was the home of Charles Paget Wade, a designer who spent his life collecting handmade objects, armour, model buildings, costume and mechanical items. The Manor is full of these collections, arranged room by room. The Arts and Crafts garden was designed in 1920 with architect Mackay Hugh Baillie Scott. National Trust adult admission is £18 without Gift Aid.
Cotswold Lavender at Hill Barn Farm is a seasonal attraction only, open from 11 June to 5 August 2026. Peak flowering runs from 27 June to 5 August. Adult admission is £7.75 and the site is card-only, so bring a card rather than cash.
July is the peak month for visitors. Weekdays and afternoons tend to be quieter at the Manor; weekdays and non-weekend days are better for the lavender fields.

On-street parking exists around the village but should not be relied on at busy times. The Snowshill Manor car park (free, 500 yards from the Manor, 6 Blue Badge spaces, 6 EV points) is separate from Pipers Grove and is for Manor visitors only.
By Rail
The nearest station is Moreton-in-Marsh, around 6 to 7 miles away depending on destination. Cotswold Lavender advises pre-booking taxis both ways, particularly on Sundays. There is no reliable direct bus to the village.

Three separate car parks serve different parts of the visit. Pipers Grove (WR12 7JU) is the public village car park: 25 spaces, no disabled bays, no published tariff. Snowshill Manor has its own free car park around 500 yards from the Manor and Garden, with 6 Blue Badge spaces and 6 EV charging points. Cotswold Lavender parking is free for patrons only: follow brown signs rather than using the postcode alone. Motorhomes over 5 metres need to call the National Trust at least 24 hours in advance; motorhome parking is not available in August or on bank holiday weekends.

March starts quiet. By April, blossom is out along hedgerows and orchards, and the light has that clear, low quality photographers chase. Lambing season means new arrivals in the fields either side of the roads. Weather is unpredictable though, expect a mix of bright mornings and sudden showers, so bring layers either way. Crowds build steadily from Easter, and the two spring bank holidays are the first genuinely busy weekends of the year.
This is peak season, no way round it. July and August weekends are when car parks fill fastest and popular spots feel their busiest, particularly late morning through mid afternoon. Daylight lasts until nearly 9.30pm at midsummer, which works in your favour if you are happy exploring early or late to dodge the crowds. Weekdays outside school holidays are a noticeably calmer version of the same places.
September is often the best-kept secret of the year. Crowds thin considerably once schools go back, but the weather is frequently still warm enough for a proper day out. Foliage turns from mid-October, stone and copper leaves together, and mornings can be genuinely misty in a way that photographs beautifully. Some seasonal attractions reduce their hours or close after October half term, so it is worth checking before you plan a day around one.
The quietest season, and for some the best one. Days are short, dark by mid-afternoon, so plan accordingly if you are relying on daylight for walking or photography. Rural roads can be icy or waterlogged after rain, worth checking conditions before setting out rather than assuming they will be clear. What you get in return is empty lanes, log fires, and villages without a single coach in sight. A number of smaller cafes and shops reduce their hours or close for a break in January, so do not assume everywhere will be open.
